Calizo Condiments are made with love, passion, and tradition . . . the Italian way. . . guided by Linda.
About Linda Scalzo Eads, EdD
Many of Linda’s youngest and most fond memories surrounded her mother and father in a multi-generational Italian family enjoying food, family, and friends.
It all began with her mother’s patient lessons on chopping and mixing various ingredients, preparing for family and guests…there was always the importance of plating and table settings. And of course, sharing Italian recipes that followed family members for generations.
Food was a passion, an avenue for fun, creativity, and social time that continues today. Especially the “research!” Whether classes were at local culinary schools or cooking classes in Tuscany that focused on the old-world style, she regularly committed to learning. Classes in Italy included trips to cheese makers, vineyards, and long lunches under the patio in the olive groves.
Would it surprise you to hear that Linda was always the first to volunteer to host any event, neighborhood celebration, community art events, career promotions – even hosted a “Barkception” for the family Vizsla.
(See the “Barkception” menu in the menu section)
Her cooking colleagues mixed many memorable moments; but it’s Elizabeth, who to this day, remains Linda’s kitchen sidekick, scoot coupe driving companion, or her peddling partner on a bicycle carriage built for two! Their 57-year friendship reflects their annual ventures to make Easter ravioli, homemade sausage (that turned out too hot for people’s digestive systems), breads, pasta, and ricotta cheese. Christmas Eve traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes holds a lifetime of memories. . . calories . . . laughter and an example of an Italian gastronomical meal. Italian traditions included the neighborhood to enjoy a different culture!
Linda became a lifelong educator — first as a business-vocational education teacher then progressing into the administration side of education after earning her Masters and Doctorate Degrees. Linda had a tremendously rewarding career in K-12 and in university settings. Her most proud accomplishment was implementing her vision and creation for a unique maritime and science technology high school—MAST Academy—that partnered with the United States Coast Guard and earned the USDOE Blue Ribbon School of Excellence distinction.
Linda’s hobby of designing textile art quilts earned a place in local galleries and were included in trunk travel shows across the world. Her ah ha moment was displaying “Troubled Times,” a climate change theme quilt art show, on Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty as part of the National Park Service juried show.
Believing everyday must be lived to the fullest, Linda chased one more quest—she formed Calizo Condiments using longtime family recipes emphasizing HEALTHY Mediterranean-based products. Her Calabrian and Tuscan family blend introduced her to herbs, spices, unique olive mixtures, creative seasoning blends, and sauces. Her passion for cooking and entertaining ignited the entertainment component in Calizo – Trained at the Washington School of Protocol, etiquette plays an important role in party planning and hospitality. She even included etiquette at the MAST Academy as MAST Manners!
Linda is committed to “Make Life Deliciously Entertaining!”
